After I self-published, a number of you told me about your plan to do the same. Did you ever wonder about the process to get your book US copyright protection? It's so easy I was able to pull it off from Korea!
Here's some useful information to help you:
*** US authors receive a basic type of copyright protection the day they publish. In my case, that was November 17, 2023.
*** By taking the extra step of registering your book with the US Copyright Office, you receive written proof of copyright protection. It's best to do it shortly after publishing. In my case, the guy who works for me ( 🤣 😅 😉 ) didn't get around to it until May 2024. Turnaround time for me was almost 4 months.
*** The written proof you receive is in the form of a signed and sealed document. It would come in handy if you decide to pursue legal action against someone infringing your rights, want to transfer them, etc.
*** The US Copyright website (www.copyright.gov) doesn't include a sample of what you receive. So I attached a copy of my registration, doctored up a bit to engage and amuse you!
*** Most countries have a system similar to the US.
