Open A New Window!

BIG NEWS !📣

I’m excited to announce that Literary Titan, a book review and author services company, awarded Float the Boat their Gold Book Award for Fiction for April 2024!

The announcement follows by several weeks their 5-Star review and interview (see links below). Meanwhile, I’ve tossed my hat into the ring for other contests, too, and will spend most of the year biting my fingernails as I await those results. Reader reviews, though hard to come by, have been very positive. It’s an exhilarating feeling to write a book and discover that someone besides me likes it!

By now you probably know I’m a fan of US Civil War general and the 18th President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant. At a moment like this, a famous quote of his really strikes a chord:

➡️The friend in my adversity I shall always cherish the most.

Sorry, AI. No book writes itself. It's a grueling and sometimes lonely process, and there’s always the option of saying you gave it your best shot and bugging out.

I stayed the course only with help from outside my bubble. Four old friends came to my aid first. Reed, Bob, Johnny, and Linda--thanks! Then two talented editors raised my manuscript to an award-winning level. Elizabeth A. White and Cheryl Jaclin Isaac--thanks for taking me on!

To all of you: I’ll always cherish the time we spent together from afar.

Thanks a million! The contests I really want to win (3 adventure and mystery-related ones) come later this summer and are much more competitive, I'd say. So we'll see what happens. Meanwhile, I'm buried in 3 books and one, a Japanese novel I'm reading for research, has kidnapped my attention in a fantastic way. Soon I'll get to your award-winning story! 😊
