From DNF👎🏻to CPD👏🏻

imtiny2011

Ever DNF (Did Not Finish👎🏻) a book then try again some time later and discover you CPD (Couldn't Put it Down👏🏻)?

The only time I recall it happening to me was with Isaac Asimov's The Foundation Trilogy. Family friends gifted me the edition pictured here when I was in my early teens, and I was excited. Who wouldn't be? A cool cover, three books in one, and in the Sci-Fi genre, an unknown category.

A few chapters in, I put it back on the shelf and didn't pick it up again for almost 20 years!

By then, Asimov had written three more "Foundation" books, and I devoured all seven. Next came his entire series of Robot books, eight or more, and I loved those too. Since then I've read both series three more times, in Japan ($$$), in Ohio and here in Korea.

In the Foundation series, my favorite character is the Mule (he's my dog Tango's favorite too 🤣🤣🤣!). In the Robot series, Giskard is my favorite. The Mule is a mutant, and Giskard is a robot. It's fair to say I reread his books so frequently because I want to be introduced to them again.

What's your DNF-to-CPD story?
